The states where we work

Every state safeguards forgotten funds for their owners. We are registered or licensed with the state offices below, and we know their rules, forms, and timelines.

Why registration matters

A growing number of states require companies that help people recover forgotten funds to register or be licensed. Registration lets the state confirm who is filing claims on an owner’s behalf, and it holds those companies to the state’s rules.

In Georgia we are a registered Claimant Designated Representative with the Department of Revenue. In Pennsylvania we hold a Certificate of Finder Registration from Treasury, which requires a notarized application and a sworn background attestation. In Iowa we are a licensed Private Investigation Agency. Each state page explains the rules that apply there.

How much the states are holding

Together, the states on this page hold more than $30 billion for people who don’t know it’s there. Across the country, state treasuries and agencies returned $4.49 billion to owners in fiscal year 2024 alone, according to NAUPA.

Not sure which state is holding your money?

Property is usually sent to the state of the owner’s last known address, so it may be in a state you left years ago. Tell us where you’ve lived and we’ll check.
